Maintenance Instructions

Run AdAware at least once a week

If you haven't already:
1. Download AdAware
2. Install (by running aawsepersonal.exe)

Every other time:
3. Open AdAware (Start - Programs - Lavasoft AdAware SE Personal - AdAware SE Personal)
4. Click CHECK FOR UPDATES
5. Click Connect
6. Click OK
7. Let it install any updates
8. Click Finish
9. Click Start
10. Click CUSTOMIZE
11. Click SCAN INSIDE ARCHIVES
12. Click OK
13. Click NEXT
14. Let it run until it's finished
15. Click NEXT
16. If the boxes are not all checked, click your RIGHT mouse button on one and choose "Select All Objects"
17. Click NEXT
18. Click OK
19. Close AdAware

Run Spybot Search & Destroy at least once a week

If you haven't already:
1. Download Spybot
2. Install (by running spybotsd13.exe)

Every other time:
3. Run Spybot (Start - Programs - Spybot Search & Destroy - Spybot Search & Destroy)
4. If an alert about robots pops up, click OK
5. Click UPDATE
6. Click SEARCH FOR UPDATES
7. Click the box next to each update OR click the right mouse button on one and click "Select All"
8. Click DOWNLOAD UPDATES
9. Let it install - if the alert pops up again, click OK
10. Click CHECK FOR PROBLEMS
11. Be sure all are checked
12. Click FIX SELECTED PROBLEMS
13. Click YES
14. Click OK
15. Close the program

Defragment at least monthly

To Use Defragment
1. Start Defragmenter

2. Choose your drive(s)
3. Click DEFRAGMENT
4. When it finishes, click CLOSE
5. NOTE: This is best done just before bedtime, so it will have all night to get done before you want to use the computer again.
